Draughn is a drummer, educator and bandleader who draws on the lineage of North Carolina greats including Monk, Coltrane, Nina Simone, Dr. Billy Taylor, Max Roach and others, bringing their legacy into the present in fresh and innovative ways. Expect an evening where bebop, blues, swing, gospel, latin rhythm, funk, vocal music, and open-ended improvisation meet--not as separate chapters, but as parts of an interconnected North Carolina musical story.
